A Breath Of Fresh Air
With Nick Cholmsky
What Kind Of Masculinity Do You Want To Embody?
A Breath of Fresh Air is a place for boys and boy-expansive youth to slow down, take a breath, and find themselves. In today’s digital age, boys are constantly told how to think, feel, and act in order to be a “real man”. These pressures form the base on which prejudice, sexual violence, shame, loneliness, and insecurity thrive. It is time for an informed conversation on the ideas that govern masculinities and their impact on others — and more importantly, ourselves.
Through this talk, boys feel seen like they never have before. We remind them that they’re human — emotion-having, connection-desiring, good-faith humans just trying to figure out who they are (like everyone else!). Through this lens, boys feel empowered to explore mental health, friendships, romantic relationships, and body image in a healthy way. This talk will teach that a real man is strong enough to ask for help, courageous enough to define his own masculinity, and honourable enough to treat others with compassion and respect.
